2008 - 2009 Referee Awards

This season marks the inaugural season of two awards that are presented to two deserving officials within the newly formed Chestermere Referees' Association. Congratulations to both award winners.

Tony Gramblicka Memorial Award

Tony Gramblicka was a long time Chestermere official. Tony spent many hours in the rink officiating at all levels of minor hockey in Chestermere. Not only did Tony work a lot of hockey, but he also spent numerous hours in the rink helping up and coming officials along the way. Tony was also the Referee-in-Chief of Chestermere for many years. A number of the officials that Tony spent time helping went on to referee at the highest levels, including Junior A, University, and the Western Hockey League.

The recipient of this award was chosen by the members of the Chestermere Referees' Association (CRA) based on the following criteria: 

The person must: 

  1. be an active member within the Chestermere Referees' Association.
  2. be in at least their 3rd seaon as an official.
  3. be someone who has shown dedication and committment to the CRA and officiating in general with things they do on and off the ice.
Congratulations to Todd (TJ) Campbell as this years, inaugural award winner of the Tony Gramblicka Memorial Award.

Rookie Of The Year Award

This award is presented each year by the Referee In Chief of the Chestermere Referees' Association (CRA).

The recipient of this award is chosen by the Referee In Chief of the CRA or his/her delegate based on the following criteria: 

The person must: 
  1. be an active member within the Chestermere Referees' Association.
  2. be in at least their 1st or 2nd consecutive season as an official.
  3. be someone who has shown a great committment to officiating.
  4. be someone who has shown a willingness to learn.
  5. have a positive attitude on and off the ice.
  6. be someone who continuously shows a willingness to help out whenever asked.
Congratulations to Taylor Monkman as this years, inaugural award winner of the Rookie Of the Year Award.

Taylor was presented with a new pair of Graf 709 Skates which were graciously donated by Tony Giasson of Chestermere, AB. Thanks also to Ryan Gregory & Tuxedo Source for Sports.
